Telepathy may seem like an extraordinary ability, but the reality is that it exists in subtle forms that we often just shrug off. In Rupert Sheldrake's Telephone Telepathy experiments, he explored the phenomenon of knowing who is calling before one answers the phone.
In this experiment, there is one guesser and a pool of four potential callers. Two rounds of testing were performed - in the first, the guesser chose their pool of callers, typically selecting family members and close friends. One would expect an average of 25% correct guesses based on chance alone, but in this group, the average was 42%, highly significant.
In the second round of testing, however, the researcher selected the potential callers at random from a pool of strangers. In this round of testing, the guesser only got 25% correct, no better than pure chance.
So now it becomes apparent that some sort of "familiarity factor" is at play. But what causes it and how is it formed? It's not purely hereditary, it's not related to physical distance, but it seems to be facilitated by having a close relationship with someone.
My hypothesis is that by spending time with someone in person, be it through a shared living space, sharing meals, or just hanging out together, you are exposed to the same microbes, environmental bacteria which are inhaled through the breath, and whatever microbes exist in the food you've eaten together. By spending time together, you are effectively harmonizing your gut microbiomes.
If you are familiar with this site, you know my theory that consciousness is likely a function not of the brain, but of the gut. By harmonizing the gut microbiomes of two parties, we naturally harmonize the consciousnesses.
If you are new to this site, please take a moment to check out the blog page to read more about the possible connection between the gut microbiome and consciousness.
This is obviously a huge claim, but one worth investigating, which is why I am seeking participants for an experiment to prove or disprove this theory. To test this theory, I will recreate the original Telephone Telepathy experiment, record the results for a baseline, administer probiotics from the same batch/culture to each participant over the course of a week, and then perform the test again and see if scores improve. This process will be repeated for four weeks, this will allow us to establish a trend line to confirm the theory, although I believe as early as the second week we should see signs of confirmation.
